Safety concerns in maternity and elderly wards? They’re at 81-82%. Red flags are waving everywhere, with 56% of shifts reporting serious safety risks. Yet, only 21% of workers felt their employers would respond satisfactorily. So much for confidence.
And what about the nurses themselves? They face burnout and fatigue, which are notoriously bad for patient safety. With averages showing up to 2,660 flu patients in beds daily, it’s a nightmare. The numbers scream for attention, yet they often fall on deaf ears. Interestingly, the LFPSE service captured a total of 833,136 events, highlighting the critical need for improvement in patient safety.
Sure, there’s a 5.6% nurse turnover rate, which sounds manageable until you realize that incidents like falls and medication errors are on the rise.
